1. What do I need to do before I get a web site?
   Make sure you check out more than one designer and go with someone you feel comfortable with. If you'd like you can call or us - we'll be happy to help you understand the process and we won't give you the "hard sell" either.
   
   
2. I don't understand all the technical terms I keep hearing, can you help me with that?
   Sure, see our terminology page for a list of the more commonly used technical terms and their explanations, or you can go to wikipedia.com and look it up.
   
   
3. How much does a web site cost?
   Unfortunately, the short answer is, that depends. Giving you an estimate without knowing more about your needs is difficult to do, however, you can check out our fees & rates page to see some of our pricing. Feel free to call us for an estimate at 910.814.1030. Pricing is contingent on a number of factors, some of which include:

   • Number of pages you want
   • Whether the site needs to be dynamic (interactive), or more like a
      business brochure or a blend of both
   • The number of graphics or pictures you plan on putting on the site
      and the complexity of those graphics
   • Whether you want a Flash movie or animation, and whether you need
      to add audio and/or video to your site
   

4. How long does it take to make a web site?
   Again, that depends. For the most part, it depends on the same factors in the answer to the number 2 question. It also depends on how responsive you are in supplying the content to fill the pages. "Content" means text, and in some cases, graphics or pictures. For example, a simple "brochure" style site could take as little as two weeks to create. Obviously a more complex site would take longer.
   
   
5. What is hosting, and why do I need it?
   Hosting is most commonly thought of as leasing space on a very special computer in order for your web site to be seen on the Internet. All web sites need to be "hosted" - and there are a number of options for hosting. Roaring Aardvark Web Design provides hosting for its clients.
   
   
6. How do I get a web name?
   Traditionally a web name, commonly referred to as a "domain name", is registered on the Internet through a company called a registrar. These companies, GoDaddy or Tucows to name just two, allow you to register your domain for one or more years and then renew your domain annually or when the due date roles around. We can save you this step by purchasing your domain name for you and renewing the domain annually. You won't have to worry about remembering to do this yourself.
   
   
7. Can I get email for my web site?
   As part of Roaring Aardvark Web Design's hosting package we offer up to 50 email addresses associated with your domain name. There is no additional charge for this service.
   
   
8. Can I have animation on my site?
   Yes. Although we caution against too much animation because it can detract from the real purpose of your site - which is to promote your products or services. A little bit can go a long way.
   
   
9. I think Flash movies are cool, can I get one?
   Yes. Again, we caution against the overuse of animation or Flash. When used correctly, Flash movies work very well for a site. However, users can quickly become tired of having to wait for an animation to load and play each time a page is opened, so remember the addage; less is more.
   
   
10. What if I don't have a logo for my site?

11. How can I get my site at the top in searches?
    If properly prepared and implemented, search engine optimization can help to place your site well with search engines. There are a number of factors that influence search engines' decision making on the placement of a site (called algorithms). 12. Can I have control over the content of my site?
    Sure. Through a dynamic interface, we can give you control over almost any aspect of your site, thereby eliminating the need to contact us for every little update or change. Click here for more information.
    
    
13. I've heard of eCommerce, can I sell my products on the web?
    Yes. eCommerce is a web site's capability to sell goods and services online. Roaring Aardvark has a custom built eCommerce solution that will fit your budget. See our eCommerce page for more information.
    
    
14. I don't have a digital camera, will regular photographs be okay to use?
    Yes. We can scan your photos and even make corrections to them if needed.
    
    
15. How can I make sure nobody steals my pictures on the web?
    You can't. However, you can protect your photos with a watermark placed over them so that users will find it difficult to re-use them.
